Daily Kos Elections Weekend Digest

NV-02: Early votes favor Amodei (R)

In this three-day weekend edition of the digest, we see a continuation of two trends that have dominated the summer of '11: President Obama maintaining parity with his GOP challengers despite pretty awful job approval numbers, and Rick Perry shoving aside Michele Bachmann as the primary threat to a Mitt Romney GOP nomination.

But long before the presidential sweepstakes fire off, we have other elections to tend to. In 10 days, voters head to the polls in Nevada and New York. Actually, folks started voting in Nevada last weekend, and that might be why the dude to your immediate right is smiling (more on this later).

Meanwhile, the GOP is getting positively boat-raced in a nominally red state (but, alas, not at the presidential level), according to new polling. That, along with the requisite "I'm in!" and "I'm out!" announcements, mark another active week on the campaign trail.

All of which you can learn about (or relive, for the true junkies) if you peek on the other side of the threshold.
