Round two in the battle for the soul of Wisconsin is in the books, and thus far, one has to conclude that the Democrats are ahead on all scorecards.
Meanwhile, Minnesota Republican presidential candidates are batting .500 in the polls this week. If your name is Bachmann, you had a pretty good polling week. If you name is Pawlenty ... eh ... not so much.
There has, believe it or not, been news outside of the Great Lakes region this week, as well. For example, the electoral standing of the president depended this week on which pollster was asking the question. In fact, that very question actually coaxed the House of Ras out from under the bed this week.
So while the nation swelters under a blanket of unrelenting heat, let's cool off with a little synopsis of the week that was in the world of electoral politics. Here is just a sampling of what lies ahead:
- Republicans finally countered recent Democratic polling in the hot Nevada Senate race. All that did, however, was confirm the fact that newly minted GOP incumbent Sen. Dean Heller is really vulnerable to a Democratic challenge.
- Evidently, North Carolina Republicans didn't think they screwed the Democrats hard enough in red Redistmas. So they went back to the drawing board.
- Normally, I don't get too fired up about election polling that is 28 months away. But if you dislike Chris Christie as much as I do, then this week's new polling by PPP was absolutely bee-yoo-tiful.
